The government program giving coupons for money off the new digital conversion boxes has begun. If you haven’t heard about this then listen up. In 2009, TV stations will have to change to digital signals and give up their analog ones so many TVs will stop receiving the signal unless you buy a converter box for each TV that doesn’t receive digital signals. This change should not affect those who pay for their TV service as long as you continue to do so. The web site to go to to get the coupons (which will cover most but not all of the cost of a converter) is www.dtv2009.gov. Don’t be too surprised if you haven’t heard about this. Although they started signing people up for coupons, they say after you’ve signed up that the boxes aren’t even available for purchase yet.
