Conan’s Departure

I got to watch the first episode of Conan on the Tonight Show and I just finished watching the last one.  He bookended the show by having on the same guests as he did to begin with – Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell.

Definitely something to see (so watch it on hulu if you missed it).  He shredded his ID, paid homage to NBC for the good years he had with them and signed off with a rendition of ‘Free Bird’.  He (among others) played guitar while Will Ferrell did vocals and PLAYED THE COW BELL!!  Of course Max Weinberg played the drums.

What is a last show without a touching moment?  The biggest touching moment was when Conan thanked the fans for their inspirational support and asked that they reject cynicism.  But then, having Tom Hanks say that in his house Conan would always be the host of the Tonight Show comes in a close second.  The lengthy applause from the audience and the screaming and yelling that seemed impossible to end made me want to stand up and cheer myself.

I’m excited to see where Conan lands and I hope it’s soon.
