Bunk Beds As Space Savers
When I was growing up, bunk beds were a must since four of us shared one bedroom. With the four bureaus and a bookcase in addition to the two bunk beds, there wasn’t a lot of room left. One sister had a 2′x1.5′ carpet that was ‘her space’. I had a corner.
By today’s standards, the room we shared as children was large so, even though people are having fewer children, having a bunk bed is still a must. Even when just two are sharing a room, having bunk beds leaves room for playtime or other furniture. The variety seems to have increased as well. You can get bunks with two twin beds, bunks with one twin and one full, or even one with a desk on the bottom and a bed on the top.
If you’re really attached to the idea of having each child have a bed on the ground but still want to save space, you may opt to choose the Captain’s Bed. You can get up to 12 drawers underneath making a bureau unnecessary. Or you can keep the bureaus and use those extra drawers to store toys so you don’t need a toy box. The combinations are probably unlimited.
