Should That Be Thrown Out?

So you can tell at Christmas that there is a fundamental difference between the way my husband and I were raised – his family had a fake Christmas tree every year and my family always had a real one.  This was never more evident than last Christmas.  In all the previous years of our marriage, we had opted for the ease of an artificial tree but since we were having guests to our house for the first time, I decided to get a real one.  Having a certain amount of previous knowledge, I commanded the endeavor.  I bought the tree and a stand, set it up with some help, decorated and watered the tree for the entire season.  I then de-decorated and set the tree outside so my husband could throw it out.  He dutifully did so and it wasn’t until it was time to put the decorations up in the attic that I thought to ask about the Christmas tree stand.  Turns out he threw it out with the tree.  I was flabbergasted.  Admittedly, I should have told him not to or taken the tree out of the stand but it hadn’t occurred to me that it might be in danger.  Alas!  Now he knows and this year we borrowed a stand from the folks.

!!! Thank you for the laugh! This year, Br. & I got a real tree, which I don’t think he’d every done before, based upon how comfortable he was as he held it up straight for me to check out from various angles while we were at the tree lot. I don’t think I’ll be asking him to take it out to the curb when we’re done with it next week.
