Where have you gone, Buckaroo Banzai?
Does anyone remember Buckaroo Banzai? The dashing and intelligent brain surgeon / rock star / comic book hero / theoretical physicist (I think a race car driver too) played by Peter Weller before his Robocop fame.
The finale of “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension” features an add for the sequel which was never to be. Now that Hollywood has officially run out of ideas and only makes movies that are either sequels, prequels, remakes, based on, inspired by, or in honor of other movies, maybe it’s time to return Buckaroo to the big screens. (Or the small screen, a Buckaroo tv show would rock.)
It would be difficult to get a cast as stellar as the first one. Besides Weller, you had John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, Ellen Barkin, Christopher Lloyd, and even that teacher from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” who switched to Sanka.
One can only hope.
