Darkman review
I’ve long been a fan of Sam Raimi and his unique style of filmmaking, so it seems strange that I’ve only seen Darkman once (a long time ago). Well I’ve rectified that problem.
It’s hard to describe how odd Darkman is. The movie features much of the Superhero vibe that the SpiderMan movies contain, but still much of the darkness of the Evil Dead movies. Darkman even contains much of the slanted camera angles and strange humor of Raimi’s previous work. Even the choices of Liam Neeson as the hero and Frances McDormand as the love interest are strange for a superhero movie.
The entire movie plays as a setup to the Darkman character without going too much further. Since I got the entire Darkman collection, I can’t wait to finally see the sequels. Even though they aren’t Raimi directed films, Darkman is an interesting character and I’m glad to see the continuation of his story.
