Injured in TN?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

If you are, then call up an attorney. That’s usually the best idea. Attorneys have had a bad rap since the days of Shakespeare and before. Everybody hates lawyers… until you need one. Having a personal injury of some time is usually the time when people finally need and meet with an attorney. If you need a Tennessee injury lawyers, then be sure to be quick about it and check the internet (and this website in particular) for exactly what you need.

Area of area rugs

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

When looking to totally change the look and ‘feel’ of your place, without buying an entire new set of couches and stuff, the best option is a new area rug. With the many area rugs that are available online, you don’t need to actually go to the store and flip through the heavy rugs. With an easy click of the mouse, you can find what you like, sort how you like, and furnish how you like.

We’ve been baconized

Bacon has been expanding its domain and influence to the far reaches of the world and the net. Its touch is felt across time and space and bits and bytes. From bacon bowls to bacon pizza, there are all sorts of bacon ideas and recipes out there.

It has now arrived here.

Bacon has splatted itself onto ovrnite.com.

When will it end?

Wwwwhhhhheeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnn?

Still Trapped in the Closet

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Okay, so we may be a little behind the times, but it seems that after all of the fun that the entire world had a poking fun at R. Kelly and his ridonculous “Trapped in the Closet” ‘Hip-Hopera”, he’s at it again. That’s right folks, he’s back with even more episodes, characters, and subplots. Word is that he’s even going to be releasing a third set of videos in the very near future. I don’t know what drives this man to create such hilarity in the guise of a serious artist, but bravo sir. Keep ‘em coming.

Ouch That Hurts

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Ohhhh what a headache I’ve got. Fortunately my charges today were in a wonderful mood and I was able to keep it at bay until I got home. Maybe the fact that the only liquids I’ve had today have been caffeinated is a possible source of my problem. Maybe the fact that I haven’t taken any pain killer is a possible reason for it not going away. That’s ok because I’m going to bed soon. After cleaning the house and bathing the kids a bit.

Get your rack mounted

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Yeah, I’m sure that I’m not the first to come up with that pun, but it serves its purpose, nonetheless. With the number of companies that need specialized computer solutions to an infinite variety of technical problems, you would need to find a specialized solution in order to get what you need. The people at Core Systems specialize in offering the right solution for each problem and engineering the perfect rack mount for your needs.

Lead Life Insurance

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I’ve written plenty of times about how important it is to have an adequate amount of life insurance for you and your family, even in these very interesting times. Interestingly enough, I’ve found that there is a way for life insurance agents to get a number of free leads for prospective life insurance clients. So, in other words, if you’re a life insurance agent or representative, be sure to check all available sources to get a life insurance lead.

With all of the special days throughout the year that you celebrate with your special lady, you’ll need plenty of ideas of gifts to give her. Without this list you may be lost. If you’re not the legendary present-picker that I am, you’ll definitely be lost.

Online MS in Information Security

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

With all the weird threats out there on the internet, I’m almost too nervous to surf to a new site like I used to. What if it downloads a hideous virus to my computer that sucks 10 years worth of baby pictures down the toilet? I’ve only printed some of those up but even if I’d printed them all I don’t want to have to scan them back in — what a waste of time. I’d probably be willing to pay somebody to give me piece of mind. Somebody should really make a job of that.

Oh yeah, they already did. And you can get an online degree in that field too. Like an online MS in Information Security from Lewis University. They have two different concentrations (Management or Technical) and cover topics ranging from Computer Forensics to Security Assurance Principles (names of just 2 of their courses). You could end up working for a large corporation or starting your own business going door to door protecting computers like mine.

And when will your job security disappear? When utopia arrives and no one want to have power over other people’s information. In other words – never.

The Give and Take of Online Auctions

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

My first experience with online auctions was when my husband came to me and told me he’d gone a little overboard on eBay and bid more than $100 on things.  He only won one auction and since then we’ve both found the pitfalls associated with that type of site.

On the otherhand we’ve also discovered the benefits.  This includes both buying and selling aspects of those services.  It helps to start small and see how the site works and how well you work with it.  Then you can increase your usage as your comfort level increases.

Masters Degrees Online

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Now that I’ve gotten a job and want to get raises, I have to look into getting my masters degree.  Having done some post graduate work through online classes with good success, I’ve been trying to look into online master degrees.  The problem is that most places offering such things are places you need to make sure are real.  They aren’t backed up with a well known name – or even a little known name.

I’ve only heard of one – Gonzaga University in Washington state – that is really well known and respected.  Alot of the more well known places are afraid to enter the online world because they think it will diminish the quality of the education offered.  But if you’re like me, you need your masters to keep your job and don’t have the luxury of leaving in the middle of the day to get to class so you’re happy that there’s anyone willing to enter what is sure to be the wave of the future in education.

Gross Comments I Have to Censor

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Surely there is someone real out there who wants to post an actual comment.  If weird people who probably don’t exist put a comment on a board game post but only talk about ‘excessive mastu….’ (I can’t write the whole word) as if that was what was written about , then there must be one or two people out there who will post.  And even though this kinds of nasty comment will never make it past my keen editing section, nasty (mean) comments are more welcome.

Give me a “This drivel is a waste of my time.” with proper spelling and puncuation and I will let it past my audit.

‘Go to hell and tell the devil your blog got you in’ is also something that works.

But any comments about ‘S** Russian brides.’ will only get a scathing post written.

Someone actually used the word ‘Indubitably ’. (Sure I use this in conversational english, but it’s a little high brow for the written word.)

Doh! I Meant to Back That Up

Friday, July 24th, 2009

My latest obsession on the web is going to IMDB and looking up trivia for movies I’ve seen.  I finished off the trivia for all the Harry Potter movies this morning and went through all 11 of the Star Trek movies this evening.

It was in doing this that I realized the importance of backing up my data.  One of the bits of trivia was that, through a computer malfunction, an entire class of starship was lost.  I would have thought that people who use the more technical powers of a computer would have the common sense to backup their data even if it is an enormously huge amount.  Actually, I would think that the fact that there is a huge amount of it would make it even more important.

Some people save it to disks and keep their disks somewhere but in case of fire, you’d need a safe deposit box to really be safe and that’s hard to access when your computer crashes at 7pm on a Friday night.  (Yes, your house burned down, but you saved the computer that then crashed.)

You could also save it to an external hard drive but that also gives you the risk of destruction through runaway fire in your house.  And how would you feel about your brilliant method of backup if you manage to survive the fire?  Not so good.  So it, too, needs to be kept elsewhere and even your parents aren’t going to be too happy that you’ve came to their house in the middle of the night to retrieve your life’s work.

The common theme here is that retrieval is inconvenient.  Unless there were some way to store it in a fashion that makes it accessable from, say a cable or phone line.  Wait – there is.  You use secure online storage so that you can use your parent’s dial up line to restore your computer, now that you’re crashing at their house after a fire burned yours to ashes.

Problem solved.

More posters

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

In my ongoing search to find hilarity and randomness on the internet (and then post it here for your eternal enjoyment), I present to you one of the most random images ever conceived. Yeah, it’s awesome.

In addition to that bit of awesomeness comes something that is both wrong and funny. I haven’t decided if it is more wrong than funny, or more funny than wrong. I’ll let you judge for yourself.

Health Issue

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Many people nowadays like to talk about their colons. I don’t so I will talk about what Oprah says about it or better yet what Dr Oz says about it. Apparently your poop should be shaped like an S. That’s just too gross to think about. But some people swear by things like Colonix to improve their colon health. I imagine that someone would have to strap me to a table or heavily sedate me before I did something like that even if it were declared medically necessary.

Netbooks for the net

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Even though a decade ago there were a few unsuccessful products that available that could only surf the web, the netbook is currently all the rage. With the technology of the internet moving so far past what we could imagine 10 years ago, the need for a small, portable device to access the internet makes perfect sense. So much of what we do on computers now is completely done online. Finding netbooks from many companies is now easier than ever, thanks to… you guessed it, a website!

Web Host Reviews

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

There are almost unlimited choices in web hosting today. What in the past was limited to a few large companies at high prices has now come down to a very competitive market with many options and price points. Many people would, in the past, stick up a very few pages onto one of the many free options for hosting a web page and just leave it at that. However, today’s internet surfer has quickly learned what to look for in a web page. If the page has too many banners or an unprofessional design, the surfer will click back to the search engine and look for some other page.

Shopping around for the perfect choice in web hosting has become much easier. Going to a site that offers reviews of web hosting gives you a great idea of what types of services and plans are offered by a variety of different companies. If you are more interested in unlimited space, then you can find hosts that provide that service. Looking for an easy way to achieve a professional design, there are easy-to-use tools to spruce up the old domain. Some hosts will even offer a money back guarantee. Make sure you pick the right web hosting site for you and your website needs.

Obsession (not the fragrance)

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

I’m am terribly embarrassed to admit this but feel like I’m getting it under control and admitting my problem can only help in the process of recovery. I am obsessed with Twilight. I’ve borrowed books from other people just so that I can read them now instead of waiting to save up money to buy them. I even borrowed a book from someone outside my family. I’ve NEVER done that before. I feel cheap.

Alas it is what it is and I hereby resolve to no longer google things like ‘twilight’ and ‘new moon’. I hereby resolve to stop reading the trivia for these movies on imdb. And after I make this little mention of where my obsessive thoughts have roamed, I will endeavor to not make such cross genre comparison’s again.

I think Mary Poppins was a vampire. She dazzled the people around her. We seem to never see her outside in the sun. She was a nomad – never staying in one place for too long. She was ‘practically perfect in every way’.

I hereby resolve not to post embarrassing thoughts in the blog anymore.
