The internet has really gotten its claws into just about every human interaction there is. With Mother’s Day fast approaching (less than two weeks people), you better start looking for the perfect gift. Or at least flowers. You can even find gift baskets online to send to your mom in thanks to all of the little things that she’s done over the years.

Thursday, April 29th, 2010Bike Map
Thursday, March 11th, 2010Google has all sorts of programs and features besides the search engine that you’re familiar with. One of the new features on their map page is the bike route map. If you’re interested in the safest and fastest way to get from one location to another in the city on your bike, then this is the webpage for you. It really is a handy tool for looking for a safe way to get around town. I’ve already started planning trips on my scooter.
Long Hard Trip
Thursday, March 11th, 2010Let me tell you about the wonderful journey we had on our way home from the big city last weekend. First there was a traffic jam, then an accident and a spill on the freeway. After that there was a wrong-way trip off an on ramp in a desperate attempt to get gas before running out in the traffic jam. Does that top the deluge of rain so intense that an escape from the freeway had to be made? Not really since about 20 other people were doing it ahead of us. The rain was WAY freakier. What usually takes 3-4 hours took almost 6.

Comment on Me!
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010It’s true – you don’t see a lot of comments posted on this blog. At first the ability to comment worked well and then we changed formats and somehow that feature disabled itself – except to spam posts from machines who didn’t understand proper grammar or even how to spell and who apparently had a stuck ‘shift’ button because some posts were just thousands of question marks. Well now the comment ability is fixed (hint hint to all humans) and we’re getting a higher quality of spam post (woohoo it’s only their email address that refers to Viagra!) but I could still stand to see something that seems like an algorithm didn’t write it….
Western U Online
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010There are a number of online universities that have grown tremendously in popularity over the past decade since the explosion of the internet. Many of these universities are merely extensions of the existing schools without a significant online focus.
For those in the market for an online university, you need to make sure that the school fits into your needs. The most significant difference for Western Governors is the focus on WHAT you learn as opposed to how many hours you’ve taken. This focus on practical learning may be just the perfect thing for professionals going back to school and looking for an online mba.
Axe Cop – The Movie
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010Who says that all of the great ideas have already been done? It’s time for the world to meet “Axe Cop”. Just keep Michael Bay away from it. There’s nothing that man can’t ruin with just a glance.
Merchant account
Thursday, January 28th, 2010Our society has ceased to be based on cash. Most can remember a time when paychecks had to be cashed or money retrieved from a teller at the bank. Even more can remember waiting in line at an automatic teller for cash. Now virtually every transaction is electronic. That just means that if you want people buying stuff from you, you’ll just have to have the best and most affordable way to get the money. A sell merchant account from the right place will save you money and make you money.
Magic Genie
Thursday, January 28th, 2010I found a fun little game on the internet the other day that is a fun waste of time. http://us.akinator.com/ asks series of questions to find out who you’re thinking about. Just pick someone famous, real or fictional, and in a few questions, it will give you a guess as to who it is. The database must be pretty intensive because it has picked out every character that I’ve tried on it so far.

Stretch Marks
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010For those of you out there who don’t know what stretch marks are for, allow me to explain. When a person gains weight, the skin will sometimes get ugly dents that kind of run in lines. They start out red or purple and often fade to a silvery white. For most people, these are permanent even after weight loss. The weight gain doesn’t have to be from fat – it can be from an increase in muscle too. That makes the cropping up of stretch marks especially insulting.
Different products and treatments have been produced to help prevent or diminish the appearance of stretch marks and one of the most common is the use of cocoa butter creams on the stretch marks. Of course then you can have cocoa butter stretch marks because this doesn’t always work. Asking your doctor for ideas is always a good way to go.
Horse Gear
Saturday, January 16th, 2010Horses can be quite expensive. We’re not talking about just what you need for the horse, like food and shelter. We’re also talking about what you need to ride the horse like a saddle and helmet and even breeches. Getting the longest lasting materials for the lowest price should be your goal so make sure to look long and hard and even ask your fellow animal lovers about their experiences and recommendations.
What’s fair’s fair
Sunday, December 13th, 2009If you can’t work anymore, and you’ve paid into some sort of disability program, it’s only fair that you receive the benefits that you deserve. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not disabled or that you can really work if you can’t. In order to get a successful disability appeal, all you have to do is contact someone who’s qualified to win that appeal for you.
Outage at Ebay
Saturday, November 21st, 2009Annoyed is the word for my husband right now who is fuming a bit at eBay. Seems their search engine has gone down today. Of course this is the day his listings are ending. And these are the first listings he’s had in about 2 years. Apparently the nexus of the universe and intersected with the SNAFU universe and resulted in him having a 9 minute wait time to see if he can cancel an auction that has 21 minutes left on it.
Here’s hoping…
Christmas Cards
Sunday, November 1st, 2009You may be thinking that right after Halloween is way too early to be thinking about Christmas. There are a couple of more holidays in between. But if you’re going to be sending out cards for the holidays, you may want to consider holiday photo cards for all of your friends and family. They’re not too expensive and a great way for everyone to see you and yours without traveling across the country.
Shipping Solution
Saturday, October 24th, 2009For many large and small businesses in the cyber world, there is not a lot of extra funds to keep a large supply in a large warehouse with a large staff to ship those large packages. Large. Thankfully there are solutions to solve these problems including the people at OWD when it comes to order fulfillment. With a large client base, they can probably handle anything that you might need to make your orders fulfilled.
Amazing Pumpkins, Batman!
Saturday, October 24th, 2009I am constantly amazed and delighted by the continual variety and talent displayed this time of year by all of the pumpkin carving that occurs just in time for Halloween. I’ve always been curious what customs we would have developed if other fruits or vegetable had become more associated with Halloween. Would we be as amazed by the amazingly decorated kumquat, or carved slivers of vanilla beans? Enjoy the fully operational Death Pumpkin!

Annual Credit Report commercials
Saturday, October 17th, 2009With the completely ubiquitous presence of credit report commercials on TV and radio that claim to be “free”, it is nice to see that the FTC has put out commercials with more accurate information. We’ve all seen the acoustic rock band that sings about getting free credit reports. We should know that the reports are not free. The only actually free site for credit checks is annualcreditreport.com
Below are two videos that the FTC made. I like them. Too bad less than 40,000 people have seen them since they were posted on youtube.
Elemental Education
Friday, October 2nd, 2009With the tragic lack of any new Schoolhouse Rock songs over the past couple of decades, it seems that the members of They Might Be Giants are beginning to pick up the slack. I’m a big fan of the elements video below, and I am enough of a science geek to get every, single, little reference in the video and the lyrics and how everything is related to together and why it’s funny. Yep, I could probably write them an extra verse.
Crush more castles
Friday, October 2nd, 2009I’ve found that I generally enjoy those simple physics-based games that are free out there on the web. The newest version of the “Crush the Castle” is a great game that’s lots of fun. The last game kept having you reset back to the beginning if you could’t crush the castle in a certain number of tosses. This latest game is cool in that the levels are all designed by different people on the web, and there aren’t necessarily limits on how many shots that you take. You do get rewards for only using a limited number of shots, but you can retry a level easily without having to go back through and redo every other level that you already made it through.
My favorite levels were the Trojan Horse level and the Castle Fights Back level.
Have fun!
Oh, and you can get it on the iPhone too. Is there no limit to the infiltration of the blasted fruit!
Injured in TN?
Friday, October 2nd, 2009If you are, then call up an attorney. That’s usually the best idea. Attorneys have had a bad rap since the days of Shakespeare and before. Everybody hates lawyers… until you need one. Having a personal injury of some time is usually the time when people finally need and meet with an attorney. If you need a Tennessee injury lawyers, then be sure to be quick about it and check the internet (and this website in particular) for exactly what you need.
Area of area rugs
Friday, October 2nd, 2009When looking to totally change the look and ‘feel’ of your place, without buying an entire new set of couches and stuff, the best option is a new area rug. With the many area rugs that are available online, you don’t need to actually go to the store and flip through the heavy rugs. With an easy click of the mouse, you can find what you like, sort how you like, and furnish how you like.
