Christmas Cheer

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Everyone wants to look their best when seeing friends and family during the holidays.  So if you have severe acne, you probably aren’t feeling as good as you otherwise would.  Yes, you should be concerned with what’s on the inside and not on the outside, but it’s hard to stay focused on what is important when you have a distraction like your appearance.

Consult a dermatologist to find out what your options are and you could be looking better by this time next year.

Ask for Help When You Need It

Friday, November 26th, 2010

With the holidays upon us, it is sad to think that some are struggling with addiction instead of being able to spend quality time with friends and family.  If you know someone who needs to go through opiate detox, then ask those same family and friends what their suggestions are.  Many have gone through the same thing you or your loved one are going through and can give you the support you need to make it through such a difficult time.

Ask for help and you’re more likely to find it than if you wait for help to find you.

My Childhood Dermatologist

Friday, November 19th, 2010

Speaking of zits, if you’re looking for an acne solution you can check your local pharmacy or you can talk to a dematologist.  I actually went to one as a kid who sprayed liquid nitrogen on my face.  I don’t know that it worked all that well, but if you actually apply the medicine he gave me every night (like I was supposed to but contantly forgot to do) then it might work for you.

Used Gym Equipment

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

If you’re looking to get healthy but don’t want to go to the gym, you might want to invest in used gym equipment. You could go to a gym to find out how to use the equipment properly and then get some for your own personal use. Then you don’t have to commute, you don’t have to pay dues, and you don’t have to wait for your favorite machine to be free – unless you have a roommate.

It way more affordable than buying new.

Follow Physician’s Advice

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Instead of getting liposuction, you may consider what would happen to your body if Lipofuze works for you.  Consult your physician before trying any new kind of diet and keep him or her informed of your progress and any side effects you may experience.  They may have suggestions for how to make your transition to a slimmer you an easier one.

Diet & Exercise

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Thinking about trying a pill to help you slim down?  Remember to research the best ones at www.bestslimmingpills.org before wasting your money on ones that don’t work.  Do this only AFTER talking to your family physician about the risks and benefits of adding this option to your daily regimen of exercise.  And remember to watch what you eat.

Good luck in your quest for better health!

For the Future

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

If you’re like me and have a family history of arthritis, you may be wondering what to do if you also develop it. There are many medications that can help but you might want to think about taking a supplement. If you want to research this possibility, you can go to www.msmsupplements.org where you can find several reviews of such supplements.

It’s always good to plan ahead.

Herbal Weight Loss

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

If you are one of the people out there thinking of using a prescription medication to lose weight, you may consider trying herbal phentermine first. If you don’t have insurance, it’s probably cheaper than the prescription anyway. Of course it’s important to check out its safety and talk to your doctor about it as well. Good luck in your quest to get healthy!

Malling with My Daughter

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

When I went to the mall today, I was inundated by people being very helpful and asking me to buy their products. That’s what happens when you get there just as everybody is opening up shop.

I had one person ask me what I use to style my hair (he had an Italian accent) to which I honestly replied “A hair brush.” I could have added that the last time I did even that was days ago. “Wait, I have a gift for you,” he said as I rushed off.

I had another person offer me a sample of some kind of lotion. I was so uncomfortable being approached like that I dashed away from him as well. Only the person handing out flier for buying gold was able to make it past my defenses and then only because she was the first person to try.

I was so quick in my departure, I don’t even have any idea what a couple of them were selling. It could have been dermapril for all I know. I tend to freeze and I fail to read signs. But if you need a dermapril review you can find one online.

His Tooth Fell Out

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

My husband’s tooth keeps falling out.

I know. You’re thinking that this is something that should have been taken care of a while ago if it KEEPS falling out. But the finest dentists around (the ones available on Sunday) just keep gluing it back in and saying that if it falls out again, they’ll do something more permanent. It’s free to get it glued back in so we don’t have a real problem with this plan.

Did I forget to mention that this is a gold overlay?

I think I did which makes this just a tiny bit less weird.

Now, I don’t want him to lose the tooth because the price of gold is going up and we’ve got out own little piece of gold bullion socked away in his mouth. I want him to wait until the price of gold tops out and them sell it to pay for the crown he’s going to need. He says, no matter what he’s getting a crown the next time it falls out.

I have no heart, but he has no financial sense.

One Little Mistake

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Add one to the list of things I fervently hope I never do in my life that make me national news: mistaking super glue for eye drops and gluing my eye closed.

Through my own stupidity, I weed whacked my leg once, but it didn’t make national news so it wasn’t as bad as it must be for the woman who actually DID stick super glue in her eye.

As a precaution, I intend to remove super glue from this house by the end of the day and continue to never use eye drops.

Clean Face?

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Acne products can be found at your local grocery store. Or your local pharmacy. Or your far, far away grocery store and far, far away pharmacy. You can get your scrubs or your rubs or your pore cleaners. Different products work for different people, so don’t get too upset if you’ve tried a few with no luck. It may just be that the right product is in the next section over. Good luck!

Epic Fail

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

It is cosmically not fair that I was trying to make myself a half not horrible for me snack and I managed to burn myself in the process.

It’s even worse that I burned my FOOT making POPCORN! Someone could have told me this happened to them and I would not have been able to figure out how such a thing could happen — which might explain why I couldn’t figure out what was happening to me.

The popcorn was just starting to pop and a couple unpopped kernels were flying out. It seems one hit the bowl and ricocheted out and landed on my foot. Of course I felt the pain and began age appropriate swearing (there were young ears around).

“Fudge! FUDGE!” I screamed. And the kids came running. I shook my foot which was where the pain was coming from but didn’t look down until that action failed to make the pain stop or even subside. For a moment I thought the pain might continue forever. I told one kid to get a wet wash cloth for me and off he ran. At this point it finally occurred to me to look at the foot – only to find a blistering hot popcorn kernel wedged between two of my toes!

I got it out and found brief relief. My kid delivered to me the wet wash cloth and my relief was extended. He had the nerve to look at it and say it didn’t look too bad. Now I have two blisters – one on each toe – but no pain. Perhaps the nerve endings have been cauterized.

Blackhead Removal

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

You want to know how to remove blackheads?

Well, if you’re me you go buy the strips every few years and work your way through the box and then give up. Sure it feels good to rip the crud out of your pores and cool to show the stalagmites of oil and dirt stuck to the strip to all your friends not to mention the fact that it gives me a sense of fulfillment, but it only takes a box before I figure out that the same pores are clogged again the next day.

If you’re looking for a more permanent solution, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Tempting Read

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Some of the comment posts on my blog are for male enhancement. You’d think it would be awkward to read those (like it is reading posts from the people trying to peddle family vacations but who call themselves “swingers vacation”) but these tend to be coherent and not at all racy. Usually they’re for a well known drug and they’re just telling you how to get it. As spam posts go, that tends to be the boring kind.

New Vitamin Rec

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Here’s the latest news for all of you out there trying to have a healthy pregnancy.  You need to have regular checkups (not new), you need to eat a healthy diet to avoid excessive weight gain (not new) and you need to take prenate vitamins with dha (this is the new one).  Taking vitamins isn’t new but making sure you are taking those with dha is.   You may have seen it as an ingredient in baby formula and know that it promotes brain development.  It’s also important to get this to the baby before it’s even born.  Talk to your doctor about how you can make sure this is happening during your pregnancy.

Self Help

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

In a mysterious turn last week I lost 8 pounds.  No need to fear though, I have regained every ounce.  I actually suspect a rogue battery in my scale for the event.  But just to be on the safe side, instead of switching the battery I bought 2 packages of OREOS and forbade the children from having any.  Now there’s no need to go to the doctor.  I’ve beaten back the crisis single handed (well, actually cookies in one hand and a glass of milk in the other).

Shoes

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

We’ve moved… and all out mirrors are going back up….and I don’t get dressed in the dark anymore….and I’ve become a little bit hairline challenged.   But I’ve got priorities so instead of getting some shampoo for thinning hair or looking into plugs for women, I’m still on the look out for a good pair of summer sandals.  Ones that I won’t break my foot in (sling back) and ones that I don’t have to worry about nail polish for (closed toe).  But it seems that the only closed toe, closed back sandals on the market are called tennis shoes and I already have a pair of those.

Skin Problems

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Sure it may be the fact that I had to go a couple days without a shower since we were moving and I couldn’t raise my foot over the side of the tub since I was so tired but my skin isn’t looking as nice as it did just a couple weeks ago.  SO now on top of the anti aging cream and the weight loss pills I’m reading things like pronexin reviews to help beautify myself.  Thank goodness my better half doesn’t notice all these things since the only thing I really follow through on is brushing my teeth.

Desperate Times

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Summer sun is doing it’s number on my skin.  I’m going to need to find the best anti wrinkle face cream out there and use it on my driver’s arm tan.  It looks a bit worse than the other arm and I’m not ready to become old unilaterally.  Bilaterally sure, but one sided is just weird.   Maybe it’ll work on my farmer’s tan too,
