Well what a stinker! I went out to water the plants, and my husband’s scooter was missing. Apparently it was rolled off the front porch. So we’ve gone from a 1.25 vehicle family to a 1 vehicle family. Should be interesting getting everyone to work and school in the mornings.

Deductive Reasoning

An SUV was stopped in front of me at a light today. I thought I saw the handle on the back move. At first I thought I was imagining it – then I saw it happen again. Being the odd person that I am, I thought, maybe there’s a person trapped in the back trying to get out. Of course this didn’t make sense because they had certainly turned the handle far enough to prove that it was unlocked and they should have been able to open it. Fortunately, the light lasted a bit longer and I had some time to think it over.

And then I saw the actual handle to the back of the car – not at all the thing that had been rotating back and forth at regular intervals.

Then it dawned on me – this was a windshield wiper – broken off- and turned on. Who knows how long that thing has been running. Maybe every time they turn on the car, the wiper turns on. Maybe it’s been years.

The world makes its money with expansions. Buy a car, fine. You can get out the door without it hurting too much if you know how much you should really be paying. But they get you with the expansions. All the little features that add on to the bill. Video game systems have come down in price recently, but you don’t get the full set that you used to. Used to be that the Nintendo came with 2 controllers, a gun, 2 games, and everything else that you needed. Now the systems only come with 1 of the 4 controllers that you need, no gun, and usually, no game. Even board games are released with only a portion of the game before the expansion gives you full access to the entire board game. And what are movie sequels, prequels, reboots, etc., but expansions.

Expansions, they’ll get ya. That’s right Blondie. Get ya, get ya, get ya. One way or another.

Holiday Insurance

Get yourself a present this Thanksgiving, even though this isn’t necessarily the holiday for giving or getting presents, by making sure that you have auto insurance. Thanksgiving is one of the most dangerous holidays for accidents and you don’t want to have your car smashed up on the holidays. It’s just kind of a bummer. Especially if you crash into me this holiday season.

Motor Lust

It’s the time of year when snow birds bring their motorhomes to town and occupy half the Walmart parking lot and a good sized dirt lot on the outskirts of town. You got to wonder how much upkeep on a moving house is. Gas has got to cost at least as much as electricity on a decent sized house and I’d wager that motorhome insurance is more expensive than that for a stationary house. Stucco really hides dirt on a house but on a motorhome I’d feel compelled to get a car wash every now and again. It must cost extra when a car is working as your in-law quarters being dragged along behind you.

But they’re shiny. And the sides can be electronically expanded.

Which is why I want one.

Car Grilles as the Latest Bling

Car grilles are the latest thing to tweek out on your ride. First there was giving the car the ability to bounce up and down. Then it was great paint jobs and more recently those hub caps that twirl independently of the wheel. Grilles were bound to get tweeked eventually.

I’m feeling nostalgic for the days when hood ornaments were stolen and made into bling (but before it was called bling).

I finally used my car insurance for something. I got a chip in my windshield and I got it fixed. It all worked out very nicely. I just called them up (actually my husband did) and set up an appointment. The guy came out, filled the glass, buffed it to a shine and now I don’t need to worry about the thing spreading. Tiny chip taken care of. Oh, YEAH!!
