I am not looking forward to moving. You know it’s not just the horror of packing and getting the stuff in the van and getting the stuff out of the van and unpacking. It’s also the cleaning. I don’t want to tell you about how the toilet looks right now and I am personally refusing to think about the black spots growing around my faucets. Somehow it has worked out that up until I knew we would be moving, I had the cleanliness thing under control and then as soon as I found out, everything seemed to go to heck. Some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy I suppose.

Dirt Dirt Everywhere
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010Trembler
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010I finally experienced my first earthquake. I can’t count the one from my childhood where we could see ripples on the pool because I didn’t actually feel anything. If I ever get caught in a bigger one, this one will fall off the list because I thought I was just sick and dizzy and that was what was making the bed feel like it was moving. (It wasn’t until I heard about it on the news that I new I wasn’t crazy.)
But until then, huge excitement (and wishing for less damage and destruction in other areas)
Profit from Golf Balls
Friday, April 2nd, 2010One of the coolest jobs I can think of is the guy who goes diving in the water hazards at gold courses and gets the balls out of there and then sells them. Golf balls can cost a chunk of change if you play golf regularly and aren’t good – about the way it would go for me – and buying used golf balls would be a way to save money until you get better at the sport. Of course the guy retrieving the balls makes money on it – but that’s the American way.
Stargate Universe Instant Review
Friday, April 2nd, 2010I just finished watching the pilot episode of Stargate:Universe and now I’m totally depressed. I can only hope that watching the next episode will lighten my mood but having just watched the intro to that one (someone’s dead and other people are cracking up) I’m starting to lose hope for this series. Maybe I should wait a season until they work out the character development and SOMEONE on the show becomes likable.
Baby Gear
Friday, April 2nd, 2010When you’re out looking for baby gear for a new baby you need to find high quality stuff. You don’t want to have to go through a new play pen for every child you have (at $100 a pop) so you have to find materials that will last a VERY long time. When it comes to a stroller you need to go the same thing. Look past the cute, hard to follow names like “Baby Jogger City Mini” and focus on the weight and whether or not you can push it on rocks (you’ll be surprised how often that can actually come up in our well paved world). For these things the ability to endure is more important than with clothing. A baby will grow out of clothes every few months and reusing the clothing is easy because the baby has so little time to use them.
Remember that paying more for a high quality product can end up saving you money if you plan on having more than one or two children and reusing the same items.
3D Annoyance
Friday, April 2nd, 2010The onslaught of 3d movies has thrilled my children but I find the craze to be a huge disappointment. There will never be a time in my life where watching 3D movies is enjoyable unless they manage to make it so I don’t have to wear those heavy 3d glasses. I wear glasses and it just ends up hurting my nose a whole lot. The weight of my glasses and theor glasses add together and I end up with a nose ache.
ARGHH!
