Economy Woes

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

During our outings to look at houses (yes, we move again) we saw a house with a flier that pictured a beautiful blue pool. When we saw it, of course, it had been awhile since the picture had been taken and the pool turned a bit green. I remember when we were selling our house and we had to keep it spotless everyday. We slaved to get it done and now the economy has turned and people have given up hope. So much so that they don’t even try to clean their pools or change their spa filters or skim leaves off the top after a storm. It’s really a very sad state of affairs.

Comment on Me!

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

It’s true – you don’t see a lot of comments posted on this blog. At first the ability to comment worked well and then we changed formats and somehow that feature disabled itself – except to spam posts from machines who didn’t understand proper grammar or even how to spell and who apparently had a stuck ‘shift’ button because some posts were just thousands of question marks. Well now the comment ability is fixed (hint hint to all humans) and we’re getting a higher quality of spam post (woohoo it’s only their email address that refers to Viagra!) but I could still stand to see something that seems like an algorithm didn’t write it….

Get PRO active

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

With all of the acne treatments that have hit the market over the past century or so, none have seen more celebrities endorse its product than proactive. The best reviews seem to be made by the clear-faced celebrities on the infomercials for the product. You should generate your own proactiv review by trying the product for yourself and letting us all know how it worked for you. If it’s a success, let the world know.

Hitch

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I keep wondering if our minivan can handle the hitch that it will take to haul a camper around the the countryside for our next vacation. It will probably work, I just hope that it doesn’t cost too much. I’m a big fan of the new commercial featuring the couple that brags about the awesomeness of their Sienna. If it truly is that awesome, then it should handle a hitch just fine. I do know that while on vacation, we won’t be watching the movie Hitch. That’s something completely different and unrelated to a hitch to haul around a camper.

Special Shampoo

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Why are you sitting there slowly but surely losing another strand of hair from your quickly thinning scalp? Do something about it after all this time. You know that there is a hair growth shampoo out there in the stores or online that will get your follicles producing strands of hair once again. Buy some, put it on your dome, and repeat. You’ll thank me for it eventually. Once you have use of a comb again.

I Love the VH1

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Who knew that a show based around D-list (or lower) celebrities talking in front of a green screen about things they remember from decades past would be such an amazingly awesome show? I guess that the human sense of nostalgia is powerful enough to make us watch almost anything that reminds of us those wonderful bygone days of yesteryear. I’ll keep watching as long as they keep making them, and as long as there are people who look back fondly, and semi-famous people to remember too, they’ll keep making the shows for us to enjoy.

Blow it out

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Well, there really is no better way to put this, but when someone tells you to blow it out your… well, you know. Well, now you can. There are many products that you could use to cleanse your system and, with your doctor’s help, you can make a healthy change with a colon cleanser to cleanse your body and well, blow it all out your… well, you know.

Commercials these days

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

What is with commercials these days? Huh?

Do these things really work? Who is interested in hearing some guy ask about enlargement? Or who wants to hear a woman speaking frankly about one discomfort or another? Does anyone really sit through and watch an entire infomercial? Is it just me or have side effects from prescription drugs gotten dramatically worse over the past few years? Have the lawyers really gotten together to sue companies over drugs that make people stick out their tongue?

Have I been inquisitive enough?

No Mo Coco

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

With NBC royally screwing up the only good thing on the entire network, there is officially nothing left to watch on that beleaguered network. Conan O’Brien has slowly built a huge following among American audiences that could have kept NBC in high ratings long after Jay and Dave are out of the running and relaxing in retirement. But no, NBC has failed again. They lost David Letterman 20 years ago and have now lost Conan. With consistently bad decisions such as these continuing for so long, it’s no wonder that this network will soon fail.

I won’t be watching NBC anymore.

I’ll be watching Conan (wherever he ends up).

Alice – Preview

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I don’t think that I’ll be rushing to the theaters next week to see the new Alice in Wonderland flick. Even the amazing 3D effects, Johnny Depp, and Tim Burton combined couldn’t save this return of the classic story from an early March release. Shouldn’t this have been a summer blockbuster, or at least a holiday hit. The producers and distributors must know something that the rest of us will soon find out. Alice in Wonderland in 3D may not be very wonderful.

Lose the fat

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

There really is a pill for everything these days. The invention of a pill to make your eyelashes longer was the final thing. There is a pill for everything. Combining a fat loss pill with a healthy diet and a lot of exercise may just be the thing to help you lose the weight and get to the size that you’ve been dreaming of.

Sad Catch

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

With the sad passing of Captain Phil Harris on the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch”, reality TV has lost one of its most interesting people. While most modern reality shows feature wannabe actors trying to act real, this show featured hard-working men doing the job that they do every day. America found it interesting and engaging. We will miss Capt. Harris and look forward to seeing his final season when it airs in a couple of months. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow fishermen.

Cole Haan shoes

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

If you’re really going to spend more on shoes than you spend on a week’s worth of groceries, then you might as well get a good deal on them. A good pair of shoes is going to cost a little bit of money, but saving 50% or more is the way to go if you know what you’re looking for. The perfect complement for your wonderful taste in shoes is the smarts to know how to save money on your next pair of Cole Haan shoes.

Ticket to Addiction

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I have recently been exposed to the most addicting activity that has yet to be unleashed upon the world. That’s right. The horror that is online Ticket to Ride.

This classic and popular board game is harmless enough when played at your friend’s house on an actual board. You can’t keep playing too many times because your friends will only play for so long. Eventually they all have to go home.

Not so with online play. Even if there is no one online to play with because every other person in the world has finally gone to bed, you can always play against the AI.

I need help. Seriously.

Western U Online

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

There are a number of online universities that have grown tremendously in popularity over the past decade since the explosion of the internet. Many of these universities are merely extensions of the existing schools without a significant online focus.

For those in the market for an online university, you need to make sure that the school fits into your needs. The most significant difference for Western Governors is the focus on WHAT you learn as opposed to how many hours you’ve taken. This focus on practical learning may be just the perfect thing for professionals going back to school and looking for an online mba.

Axe Cop – The Movie

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Who says that all of the great ideas have already been done? It’s time for the world to meet “Axe Cop”. Just keep Michael Bay away from it. There’s nothing that man can’t ruin with just a glance.

Buying a place

Friday, February 12th, 2010

If you, like us, are looking around for homes for sale, then the internet has become an indispensable tool for your search. Whether you’re looking for a mortgage, a new house, information on your new neighborhood, information on new schools, or movers to help lug all your stuff across country, the web is the first place to look for all of these things, and in many cases will be your last stop in finding what you need.

Olympic opening ceremony

Friday, February 12th, 2010

It’s that time again when an incredible display of… well, something… is made for the whole world to see. The Olympic opening ceremony has exploded into an all-out multimedia spectacle. The parade of nations at least has a kind of purpose where all of the athletes walk through the arena and are introduced to the world. But I’ve never understood the spectacle of a half-time show extended to hours (and hours). Thankfully, it’s only once every two years.
