Car Grilles as the Latest Bling

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Car grilles are the latest thing to tweek out on your ride. First there was giving the car the ability to bounce up and down. Then it was great paint jobs and more recently those hub caps that twirl independently of the wheel. Grilles were bound to get tweeked eventually.

I’m feeling nostalgic for the days when hood ornaments were stolen and made into bling (but before it was called bling).

Elemental Education

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

With the tragic lack of any new Schoolhouse Rock songs over the past couple of decades, it seems that the members of They Might Be Giants are beginning to pick up the slack. I’m a big fan of the elements video below, and I am enough of a science geek to get every, single, little reference in the video and the lyrics and how everything is related to together and why it’s funny. Yep, I could probably write them an extra verse.

Can’t work anymore?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

For those unfortunate that have recently been disabled in some way and are no longer able to work, the economy makes this a tough time to be unable to work. Fortunately, the government has set up a program for social security disability. This website provides a great amount of information about the program and the amount of money that is spend each year helping people out.

Crush more castles

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I’ve found that I generally enjoy those simple physics-based games that are free out there on the web. The newest version of the “Crush the Castle” is a great game that’s lots of fun. The last game kept having you reset back to the beginning if you could’t crush the castle in a certain number of tosses. This latest game is cool in that the levels are all designed by different people on the web, and there aren’t necessarily limits on how many shots that you take. You do get rewards for only using a limited number of shots, but you can retry a level easily without having to go back through and redo every other level that you already made it through.

My favorite levels were the Trojan Horse level and the Castle Fights Back level.

Have fun!

Oh, and you can get it on the iPhone too. Is there no limit to the infiltration of the blasted fruit!

Injured in TN?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

If you are, then call up an attorney. That’s usually the best idea. Attorneys have had a bad rap since the days of Shakespeare and before. Everybody hates lawyers… until you need one. Having a personal injury of some time is usually the time when people finally need and meet with an attorney. If you need a Tennessee injury lawyers, then be sure to be quick about it and check the internet (and this website in particular) for exactly what you need.

Dexter 4

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Dexter’s back!

Last year was a pretty good year for Dexter. I thought that Season 3 was a slight improvement from Season 2 in terms of acting and storyline (although still not as good as the first season). The fourth started last week and seems off to an uneven start. The highlight was seeing that John Lithgow has joined the cast as this year’s main badguy. It hasn’t been since the first season that we had a major serial killer as the focus of the storyline. The Ice Truck Killer wasn’t actually revealed until the end of the season, but seeing John Lithgow in the role promises to be cool. Unfortunately, the first episode doesn’t show much of him (except his pasty man butt). Another instance of dudity (dude nudity) invading pop culture. The FBI agent is back from the second season, although I don’t think that he’s a very good actor, and the rest of the cast seem to be involved in many unimportant subplots. Hopefully, the season continues with more direction. The first episode ends on a plus with a great cliffhanger ending.

Area of area rugs

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

When looking to totally change the look and ‘feel’ of your place, without buying an entire new set of couches and stuff, the best option is a new area rug. With the many area rugs that are available online, you don’t need to actually go to the store and flip through the heavy rugs. With an easy click of the mouse, you can find what you like, sort how you like, and furnish how you like.

We’ve been baconized

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Bacon has been expanding its domain and influence to the far reaches of the world and the net. Its touch is felt across time and space and bits and bytes. From bacon bowls to bacon pizza, there are all sorts of bacon ideas and recipes out there.

It has now arrived here.

Bacon has splatted itself onto ovrnite.com.

When will it end?

Wwwwhhhhheeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnn?

Warty Wart

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I am going to come out of the closet (much like R Kelley).  I have a wart on the bottom of my foot.

Now for some trivia.  I can’t manage to get rid of it.  And it’s because I can’t remember to tape the little disk on it two times a day.  Much as it is with antibiotics I forget and what starts out as THREE MONTHS of acetasalicylic acid treatments (I love saying that word and then comparing it to salicylic acid) for the thing becomes half a year and I putter out after about 3 weeks anyway.

Then about  a year later I go out an buy the treatment again, this time resolving that I will REALLY get rid of the old plantar.  Maybe someday.

Still Trapped in the Closet

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Okay, so we may be a little behind the times, but it seems that after all of the fun that the entire world had a poking fun at R. Kelly and his ridonculous “Trapped in the Closet” ‘Hip-Hopera”, he’s at it again. That’s right folks, he’s back with even more episodes, characters, and subplots. Word is that he’s even going to be releasing a third set of videos in the very near future. I don’t know what drives this man to create such hilarity in the guise of a serious artist, but bravo sir. Keep ‘em coming.

Aging Faster Now

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

My husband has started finding gray hairs.  That’s really not so bad — I’m the last (or second to last) female in my clan to begin graying.  The rough part is having him yank them out.  At this rate I’m going to go bald.  Actually, based on my mom, that might happen anyway.  I suppose the next thing to happen is for me to get all wrinkly.

Well, since I can’t dye my hair without making it fall out (my current theory about my mom), I suppose I’ll have to focus on saving my skin with the best wrinkle creams I can find.  Maybe some stuff with crushed pearls or retinol or collagen in it.  Or I could buy some mirrors that automatically air-brush me and never look in anything else reflective.  Now that’s a reasonable solution.

More Inspiration Alignments

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

We here at ovrnite.com have compiled a new television-related and themed version of alignments. You, of course, are familiar with the nine classic Dungeons & Dragons alignments. From Lawful Good through Neutral to Chaotic Evil, we apply these personality types to TV characters.

LG – Picard
NG – MacGyver
CG – House
LN – The Ancients
NN – Bender
CN – Bugs Bunny
LE – Dexter
NE – Benjamin Linus
CE – Sylar

Lawful Good – Picard
Neutral Good – Bones
Chaotic Good – House
Lawful Neutral – The Ancients
True Neutral – Bender
Chaotic Neutral – Bugs Bunny
Lawful Evil – Dexter
Neutral Evil – Benjamin Linus
Chaotic Evil – Sylar

Again, if you can easily identify all of the above references and give good reasons why they are appropriate, you may be watching too much TV. If you can think of even better examples of each alignment type, then you’re definitely watching too much TV.
