Rehab Help

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Drug rehab may be something that you or a loved one find themselves in need of either now or in the future. If you do, you will want to be in the best possible place where you know you won’t just be spinning your wheels. Even though the internet is a wonderful place to do research for these sorts of things, it’s nothing compared to having a positive referral of a location from a person who has been there or has known someone who was truly helped by a specific program.

To that end you might want to join a support group and talk to the others in the group. Find out there experiences with different in- and out-patient rehab programs.

Saved By the Bell Reunion

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Now that I can stay up late at night again, I’ve gone a bit overboard and started staying up till the Late Late Show is on. Now that it’s Jimmy Fallon hosting it’s a whole different ball of wax than when Conan was on but there are still funny stunts.

Like Monday night I tuned in to find that he’s trying to organize a Saved By the Bell reunion. So far he has everybody on board except Screech and Kelly. They had Zack dressed up just like himself and he even had the old hair color back on. It wasn’t until he pulled out his 1990s cell phone almost the size of New Jersey that I really almost busted a gasket laughing.

It ended up waking up my husband who then had a flashback to his own Saved By the Bell days.

Not Mentioned in Polite Company

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Surely your colon isn’t a body part that is always on your mind. I, myself have resolved to avoid all mention of it in polite conversation.

But this is the internet and nothing is polite on the internet.

So I will mention that I recently read about the benefits of a colon cleanse. Apparently you can detoxify your body this way which sounds amazing. I thought my liver did that job but maybe it just gets rid of toxins that are absorbed into the blood and not the stuff stuck in your colon.

Of course you want to do research on these things before you try them and that means not just using the internet to look them up but also talking to your doctor about whether or not the benefits have been substantiated.

No Princess Bride!

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

“The Princess Bride” is an excellent movie. It’s almost the perfect combination of romance, action, and comedy. The cast is perfect, the characters memorable, and the movie quotable. I was under the impression that every girl in the world loved this movie.

I’ve been proven wrong.

A girl I work with absolutely hates this movie. She despises it.

I though that was bad enough.

I also work with another girl that had never seen it before. After lending her my copy, she came back to say, meh? Really!

I guess there’s no accounting for taste and that nothing’s a sure thing.

Cancer

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

I’ve been seeing plenty of commercials for lawyers asking for clients who have mesothelioma so they can sue for damages. I really never knew what it was so I looked it up today. Turns out it is a form of cancer that develops in the tissues surrounding many organs like the peritoneum or the pericardium. Apparently it is somehow triggered through exposure to asbestos.

Live and learn.

Not Checking My Baggage

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

How strange online check-in for a flight is. They ask me on one screen if I’ll be checking any luggage so I said yes. Two screens later they ask again but this time they want me to pony up some dough. Wouldn’t it have been nice if they’d said something about how they’re one of the airlines that charge to check even 1 piece of luggage when I bought the ticket.

Grrr
Argh!

I suppose I should just look at it as a more direct way of paying them bailout money.

Weight Loss

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Since I’ve had kids I’ve put on a pound or two.

Ok, let’s face it – if it were just a pound or two I wouldn’t even notice. We’re talking somewhere in the 40-50 pound range. ( I want to go back and change that to 30-40 but I’m trying to be honest and it’s pretty appalling either way.)

I’ve thought about the many ways that I could change that issue and considered exercise, taking an appetite suppressant and just regular dieting. The main problem is probably that I just THINK about these ideas and don’t actually do much.

Is it ok to make a mid-June resolution to change that or do I have to wait until New Year’s?

Fine here goes – mid-June resolution – try one or more of these options in an effort to make it so that when New Year’s actually rolls around, I’ll be resolving to lose the last 20 pounds.

Moving Time

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Off I go into the wild blue yonder to help a sister move. I was supposed to help another one last weekend but I couldn’t make it. Alas. But I think this will be interesting because I’ll be going to another state and a city I’ve never even had a layover in. My kids were wondering if I would be leaving tomorrow and getting there tomorrow. It was fun explaining that planes go a bit faster than cars do so my trip to another state will actually take less time in the air than our trip to the airport.

What fun!!
