Nursing Masters

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

As we all know, there is a general national shortage of nurses right now. With so many other companies laying people off, most hospitals are still looking for extremely qualified nurses. For those with a nursing bachelor’s degree that are interested in pursuing higher education, Saint Xavier University offers an online Master of Science degree in nursing. The MS Nursing is part of the path for those desiring professional growth to become a Clinical Nurse Leader. Hospitals are very interested in hiring these leaders with graduate degrees into higher paying positions with more responsibilities. For busy nurses that can’t afford to go to graduate school for an extended period of time, online classes are just the thing to get another degree.

“The Lies of Locke Lamora” review

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

While waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting some more for the next chapter in George R. R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series to be written and released, I’ve started looking for other fantasy-type books to catch my interest. Martin’ site recommended checking out a new author, Scott Lynch.

“The Lies of Locke Lamora” is a tremendous first novel from a talented author. This fantasy world is instantly compelling and believable. In the tradition of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, Locke Lamora is a lovable rogue that begins life as an orphan, but quickly rises to be the most legendary and feared thief of Camorr.

The story rarely slows but does suffer a little from the non-linear storytelling. Locke and his fellow Gentlemen Bastards begin a daring heist to steal from the city’s nobles but soon find themselves caught in another scheme.

I’ve already bought and can’t wait to read the sequel.

Rug shop area

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

If you’ve ever gone looking for an area rug to decorate a new house or just replace an old one. It can be a little time consuming to try and paw through a stack of rugs or flip through a rack of them. Online shopping for area rugs is a whole different matter. In no time at all you can find the perfect match to your decor and get it ordered and on the way.

One Tree Heart

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

In the category of absolutely ridiculous and moving fully into the redonculous. A recent episode of ‘One Tree Hill’ featured a dramatic hospital moment.

Now, I have never actually watched ‘One Tree Hill’ and never plan on watching it, but with material like this, I hope that Conan starts showing random clips when he comes back like he did with ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’.

Back to the clip.

Picture it. A man sits anxiously inside a hospital waiting room. He needs a new heart. He may only have days or hours left to live. Suddenly, someone bursts into the hospital carrying a Styrofoam box. His heart has arrived. But to everyone’s surprise. The man carrying the heart trips over the leash of a dog that is waiting at the hospital. The heart slides across the floor. The man awaiting the transplant is stunned. His eyes widen in horror as the dog gulps down the heart in one doggie bite.

Who writes this stuff, honestly.
