Even though a decade ago there were a few unsuccessful products that available that could only surf the web, the netbook is currently all the rage. With the technology of the internet moving so far past what we could imagine 10 years ago, the need for a small, portable device to access the internet makes perfect sense. So much of what we do on computers now is completely done online. Finding netbooks from many companies is now easier than ever, thanks to… you guessed it, a website!

Netbooks for the net
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Meatball surprise
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009I thought that the classic Italian meatball could not be improved upon. I mean, it’s got meat, it’s in the shape of a ball…. um, oh, it’s got garlic and oregano and stuff.
But recent advances in the culinary sciences have led me to dare the impossible. Stick a piece of mozzarella cheese inside the meatball.
The world has changed.
What wonders will we see in the amazing future. If meatballs full of cheese are possible to even the lowliest of home chefs, what culinary delights will be brought before us by the truly talented of this all too important endeavor.
Bon appetit.
Lucky parts
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009For those of us absolutely lucky enough to actually own a fine Italian-made automobile, you may have had problems trying to get parts for the thing. I mean, in Italy I’m sure that every gas station and auto parts store is fully stocked with every Ferrari, Maserati, or Lamborghini part that you could want, but in the good old U S of A, they’re a little harder to come by. Thanks to the miracle of the world wide web, you can now access all of the Ferrari parts that you may need.
Wi-fi phone
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Hopefully I won’t wash this one.
We purchased a new phone last week and with have bravely entered the strange new world of paying for our own cell phone plan and surfing the web on the phone. Very cool.
The downside of course is that it runs Windows Mobile. There’s nothing wrong with the operating system that I can see so far, but it doesn’t the hundreds or thousands of applications readily available that the iPhone or Palm systems have. Hopefully I can do some more in depth searches online and come up with a better version of Cribbage or Backgammon to put on the phone. That’s what’s really important now, isn’t it.
(Lots of apostrophes in that last sentence!)
Parks and recreational vehicles
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009With the summer season fast approaching (and already here for us in the Southwest), get ready to find a place to park your RV while on vacation. With hotels expensive, airports inconvenient, and rental cars a pain, it makes sense to kill three birds with one stone and use an RV to solve all of the problems. All you need to do is choose one of many rv parks around the country near the area that you’re visiting on your well-deserved time off.
This little swine flu went to Arizona
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009News finally hit today that Arizona has joined the growing number of states around the country to have confirmed cases of the swine flu. The good news is that the elementary school child that had contracted the disease had already gotten over his flu symptoms. The case was only confirmed after the CDC had conducted their tests on the sample. The kid’s school in the Phoenix area was closed as a precaution for a week to make sure that no other child at the school get ill.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m really glad that the government is on top of things on a nationwide and a statewide level. I don’t think that this particular pandemic will end civilization as we know it. It seems that we would be a little less prepared for the emergency that ends the world.
Everybody stay healthy!

Havasu Piranhas
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Great news for the Mohave!
Elizabeth Shue will be starring in the newest remake of a 70′s horror classic. (Emphasis on the ’70′s’, and not so much on the ‘horror’ or ‘classic’). Piranha 3D will be filmed next month right here in Lake Havasu City.
Radio and newspaper articles have recently announced calls for extras to participate in the movie. The released information so far says that they’re looking for 1000-2000 18-25 year-old’s to come down to the lake and pretend that they’re drunk and on spring break. Cool!
The movie is supposed to be about an ancient super-piranha (or probably a lot of ancient super-piranhas) that are released from below the lake by an earthquake. (What have they been doing living underneath a recently-created man-made lake for millions of years? Good question!)
The sequel to the original ‘Piranha’ was directed by a then-unknown James Cameron. Everybody’s got to start somewhere, huh? Betcha the key grip from ‘Piranha 2′ didn’t expect the director he was working for to go on to make the highest-grossing movie of all time.
(Did I use way to many dashes in this article?) -

Officially Official
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009It has finally come from the mouth (or website) of George R.R. Martin, so it can be deemed as true and officially official. HBO has announced that the pilot episode of “A Game of Thrones” will be filmed in October in Ireland.
Words cannot completely describe the excitement that is now contained in the world. Not just excitement for the awesomeness that will be in the series for the next few years, but even the excitement for each announcement over the next few months of who will play who and all of the production photos.
Yay!
Web Host Reviews
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009There are almost unlimited choices in web hosting today. What in the past was limited to a few large companies at high prices has now come down to a very competitive market with many options and price points. Many people would, in the past, stick up a very few pages onto one of the many free options for hosting a web page and just leave it at that. However, today’s internet surfer has quickly learned what to look for in a web page. If the page has too many banners or an unprofessional design, the surfer will click back to the search engine and look for some other page.
Shopping around for the perfect choice in web hosting has become much easier. Going to a site that offers reviews of web hosting gives you a great idea of what types of services and plans are offered by a variety of different companies. If you are more interested in unlimited space, then you can find hosts that provide that service. Looking for an easy way to achieve a professional design, there are easy-to-use tools to spruce up the old domain. Some hosts will even offer a money back guarantee. Make sure you pick the right web hosting site for you and your website needs.
Save the Cars II
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009A couple of more thoughts from the “Save the American Auto Companies” rant of last week.
The key part of saving these auto companies is to offer super-high efficient, high-gas-mileage cars at low prices. Make the car’s price low enough that it makes financial sense to buy for everyone. Currently, the good hybrid’s are too expensive to make financial sense. You won’t actually save any money on the deal because the higher price offsets all of the gas savings.
Another way to make these cars even more appealing to the American buyer is to offer them online. If the buyer can choose all of the options and order their new car through the internet, you will have a much happier buyer. Most Americans don’t actually like going to the dealership. They only do so out of necessity. Buyers still need to test-drive and kick the tires, so offer buyers the option of having a car driven to their home or work for a test-drive before they sign the paperwork.
I’ll still be waiting, but still not holding my breath.

Thursday, April 16th, 2009Some of the most popular resort destinations around the country have a Westgate resort nearby. You can relax in the famous Westgate luxury while you travel to all of the best vacation spots. No matter if you’re going to Park City, UT, Branson, MO, or even Orlando, FL, you can bet that their will be a Westgate to cater to your needs as you relax and revitalize.
Get better Danny!
Thursday, April 16th, 2009News hit the world today that Danny Ainge had a mild heart attack earlier today. I’ll always have a special place for Danny Ainge in my sports heart because he was a part of the early-90′s Phoenix Suns that have a really special place in my sports heart.
So, get well soon, Danny. Good luck with the Celtics, and hopefully the Suns can meet you in the Finals next year. (Don’t worry, I won’t hold my breath.)
No appetite
Thursday, April 16th, 2009If you’re in the market for losing some weight and trimming that waist line, maybe you should look into appetite suppressants that work. Pills that burn off weight may have unwanted side effects, but pills that just make you not want to eat may be better. They may have other side effects, so make sure that you check out any potential pill prior to popping.
Obsession (not the fragrance)
Saturday, April 11th, 2009I’m am terribly embarrassed to admit this but feel like I’m getting it under control and admitting my problem can only help in the process of recovery. I am obsessed with Twilight. I’ve borrowed books from other people just so that I can read them now instead of waiting to save up money to buy them. I even borrowed a book from someone outside my family. I’ve NEVER done that before. I feel cheap.
Alas it is what it is and I hereby resolve to no longer google things like ‘twilight’ and ‘new moon’. I hereby resolve to stop reading the trivia for these movies on imdb. And after I make this little mention of where my obsessive thoughts have roamed, I will endeavor to not make such cross genre comparison’s again.
I think Mary Poppins was a vampire. She dazzled the people around her. We seem to never see her outside in the sun. She was a nomad – never staying in one place for too long. She was ‘practically perfect in every way’.
I hereby resolve not to post embarrassing thoughts in the blog anymore.
Diet price list
Friday, April 10th, 2009Now with many sites promising the absolute lowest price that anyone’s ever seen for some diet pills, and other sites offering reviews of every single type of weight loss pill, it is refreshing to see a website that actually lists out the price of each bottle of miracle pill right on the front page! Reviews summarize the benefits and dangers of each diet pill along with its rank and price.
GI Who?
Friday, April 10th, 2009I’m cautiously optimistic about this summer’s upcoming blockbuster, ‘GI JOE’. I enjoyed the cartoons as a child but was never as fanatical as some of the other boys around the block. A movie version of this could be very, very bad. Tremendously bad.
There is some hope though. Recent news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to be playing Cobra Commander is interesting. I rolled my eyes at Marlon Wayans playing Ripcord and applauded Ray Park cast as Snake Eyes, but Gordon-Levitt is an interesting choice. That’s the only adjective I can use. Most of us know him as Tommy from “Third Rock from the Sun” but haven’t seen him in much since.
Let’s hope that he shines and that the movie rules. Nobody wants a movie to suck, but it does happen.

Save the cars
Friday, April 10th, 2009With the big three on the brink of ceasing to exist. I, yes I, have come to the rescue with a plan to help any or all of them.
It wouldn’t take a whole lot to save these companies. Just following these steps. They’re not easy steps, they may not even be possible, but if they’re followed, America will continue to actually produce cars.
Step 1: Make a Prius. Don’t call it a Prius, obviously, but make a car that gets at least the same gas mileage and with at least the same quality. Do what you have to do to get this done.
Step 2: Start selling it summer of 2010 for less than $15,000. Like I said. Make it happen.
The country has seen the beginning of gas at $5.00 per gallon, and they don’t like it. We have all stopped buying cars that cost too much to drive. Even though the price of gas has dropped significantly, everyone is still very conscious of the mileage that any new purchase will get.
The recent credit crunch has combined with the gas price spike and resulted in a huge number of people making due with the cars they have for now. Whichever car company can produce a new car with great gas mileage, high quality, and low price, and deliver it for the public in the next year for the model year 2011 will be saved. Almost every household in the nation will buy this car. The produces will not be able to keep up. Every person laid off by any of the big three will be hired by the company that produces this car.
Good luck to the big three. I’ll be waiting for the thank you’s after your company is successful again.
