USB swag

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

If you want someone to remember your company name for the rest of the day, try giving out hats or visors or frisbees as giveaways at your next convention or conference. However, if you want your company name and logo to become instantly recognizable to every member of the convention, give away a free USB flash drive with your company name and logo on the side. They come in many shapes and sizes and styles.

Star Wars Unleashed review

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

For at least a year now I have been looking forward to the release of the newest entry into the huge library of Star Wars related video games, Star Wars Unleashed. Now that it’s out… meh.

I was hoping for something unbelievable and outstanding. I got something pedestrian and clunky.

Granted, I have only played the PS2 version of the game and am still willing to give the other consoles’ versions a chance, but… meh.

The controls a pain, and most disappointingly, the use of the force powers is the most difficult to control. The game feels more like a fighting game with big levels than the first person shooter with force powers game that I was hoping for. And there’s no multiplayer either, even for the PS3 and 360 versions.

Hopefully, the destructible environment and improved AI that were featured so prominently in the previews will be used in the future to make better games than this.

Need boxes?

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

If you’re moving to a new place or trying to get organized, you’re going to need some boxes. You can try to dig some boxes out of the dumpster, but you may just end up with some dirty boxes of all different sizes that just don’t stack nicely. There is a site now where you can get the shipping boxes for exactly what you need to ship something, store something, or move something.

Starship Troopers 3 review

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

I was really expecting something a little different. I know, I know, it’s just Starship Troopers 3, and we rented it just to make fun of it, but it was still very different than expected.

The movie starts with the MPAA rating of R and even explains the reasons behind the rating. Well that just made us all try to predict which actress or actresses were in the movie solely to get naked and which ones were hired for their acting ability. Turns out three were hired to get naked and not a single person was hired for their acting ability. Oh, and watch out for dudity from Johnny Rico.

The long and short of the ‘plot’ involves a group of space marines crash landing on a bug infested planet and then arguing for the rest of the movie about the existence of God. The marine leader (and lounge singer) takes the side of the pro-God castaways but constantly gets that weird faraway look that means, “I’m either going to betray you all to the bugs, or I am a bug. Didn’t see that coming, huh?”

Good for a couple laughs, but mostly a waste of time.
