Things that you generally don’t discuss in a blog

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Incontinence. We’ve all heard about it, read about it. And we all say that it can’t happen to us. I’m sorry to have to be the one to bring this up, but it can happen to you, and it will eventually happen to you. Stay on this blue and green globe long enough and eventually the plumbing starts to leak. Don’t think that the need for an adult diaper will pass you by. It may just be you in seventy years that has to surf the internet (or whatever the net evolves into) for some sort of futuristic incontinence product.

Walk in showers are cool

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Our new house has many nice things about it, but the coolest by far (at least to me) is the walk in shower. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Aren’t all showers walk in. It would be mighty inconvenient to make a crawl in shower or a skip in shower (though kind of cool).

What I mean when I say a walk in shower is a shower with no tub, no door, and no curtain. Just a big open area mostly surrounded by tiled walls. This is cool to me because it probably quadruples the size of our old shower.

It does take some getting used to, though. There is also no door from the bathroom to the bedroom. Things are very open. We just have to learn to keep the bedroom door closed during shower time.

Recipe saver

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

No longer do many people get new recipes from their friends and family at church socials and backyard barbecues. There are millions of recipes for every type of food on the internet nowadays. For me, I tend to find a great recipe and then lose the website that I got it from. It makes recreating a masterpiece difficult. Saving my recipes at an online site and finding new recipes to try is a great idea that I’m looking forward to using more and more.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith preview

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

In only a couple of hours now the newest release by the Guitar Hero franchise will be released for all. The Aerosmith edition features mostly songs from the legendary band with a few other bands thrown in. I was somewhat disappointed with the effort put into the 80′s edition, but I’m somewhat optimistic about this newest version. The songlist looks great, and I’ll let you know what I think as soon as I can give it a test drive.

Buying a home

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Now that the market has just about hit rock bottom, you may be thinking that it’s time to get out. Or maybe this whole real estate instability has scared you out of the market. Now is actually the perfect time to buy a home. The only problem is that many mortgage lenders have increased their standards of who they will lend to. Look at many different lenders, especially online, to find one that will fit your needs and get you into your new home.

Kung Fu Panda – review

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

My daughter went to a movie theater for the first time last week and saw the new Jack Black / Dreamworks animated movie, “Kung Fu Panda”.

The film is a fairly simple ‘fish out of water’ story focusing on a big fat panda that dreams of becoming a kung fu master. He accidentally is declared the Dragon Warrior and begins training to battle the most dangerous and evil creature that has just escaped from prison.

And that’s basically the whole movie. It’s fun and cute and flashy, but there’s not a lot there. The other good warriors in the movie are all voiced by fairly famous people, but each has only a handful of lines. I was kind of hoping to hear more from Jackie Chan, but he only has maybe four or five lines.

It was fun though. Much better than most computer animated movies, but not an instant classic.
