FIRE!! Again?

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

The old house is gone and we’ve moved into our new crib.  The move was crazy and I think I wrote about the lack of REAL internet access (I might just as well try mailing blog posts to every person on the planet rather than try to deal with dial up) which should explain the LENGTHY absence from the blog.

But here we are, up and running again.  In our absence, 12 spammers managed to get comments through our weird comment system.  In case you’re one of those spammers and you’re reading this, I deleted every one of those.  Even the one you wrote repeatedly that said, “nice, just passing though”.  This blog is not a watering hole on the way to your real destination!  It is the destination itself!  And if you don’t realize that then it’s your loss (and apparently everybody else’s based on my usual readership level).

Anyway, back on the topic of MEEEE!!

The first night we were here, my husband and I went outside to look at the stars.  There were some whispy clouds in the sky and one in the distance seemed to be lit from beneath somehow.  We looked and I decided it was something happenening on the lake.  We looked again a little later and could see a orange-yellow glow on the horizon.  I thought it might be a big light. We looked again a little later and the glow had grown.   I decided it might be a rapidly growing fire.  (My husband can sometimes be a man of few words.)

I was concerned and continued to watch and the glow continued to grow….and grow…..AND GROW!!!  That fire must be much closer than I thought to look like it’s growing that fast, I thought.

Then I thought how strange it was for a fire to widen and widen and then start to narrow.  Then I thought how strange it was for the fire to start flying.

Just kidding.  Though I’m apparently a cynic, I did manage to figure out by this point that I was looking at the moon.  In my defense, I’ve never seen a moon rise and this was more amazing than any sunrise I’ve seen.

Oh, also in my defense, I’m sometimes not all that smart.  (Sure I’m unemployed but I’m usually a genius.)
