SocialSpark

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Our friends at Izea, responsible for the widely successful PayPerPost, have just launched their newest endeavor on the web, SocialSpark. This website promises to be the newest success story in the blogging world.

The biggest issue for most bloggers out there is gaining traffic. SocialSpark is designed around this idea. Driving traffic to the members’ sites. The community approach that the site brings encourages the kind of social networking activity that has made success stories out of many other familiar websites. Combining these efforts to drive traffic and create an open community, SocialSpark also is a great way to earn some extra money from your blogging efforts. SocialSpark doesn’t just want you to post a link and collect your money. This site encourages real opinions from their member blogs while showing full disclosure of what is a sponsored post.

Their new marketplace gives many different options in how to participate in the blogging community. The post option is still featured and gives a blogger cash to write an opinion on a given topic. The reservation system works much better than other sites where you have to keep hitting refresh to sign up for any good posts. Another option in the marketplace is to exchange posts with another blogger. Two bloggers write articles about the other bloggers site for free.

The new site is easily navigated with only a few minor glitches as they work through the Beta phase. The full disclosure of sponsored posts makes it very search engine friendly.

Halva

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

My wife’s family has some strange traditions. Some, like the birthday parade, are cute and I quietly endure them, while others are just kind of weird.

Around the holidays my in-laws house is full to the rim with all sorts of strange sweets. Unfortunately, there are few that I find appetizing. The chocolate-covered orange peel is just a strange mixture of wonderful chocolate surrounding something that should have been thrown out. The maple sugar candy has a flavor better suited to breakfast, not dessert.

The worst is halva. A strange Middle Eastern dessert that combines crushed sesame seeds, honey, and chocolate. You may be saying to yourself that all of those ingredients sound good. It just goes to show that some things just shouldn’t be combined.

Faucet Outlet

Last year when we decided to fix up a number of home repairs, one of which was the kitchen faucet. This was a little difficult because our kitchen has a wall mounted faucet. We had to search for a while to find the right style. Check out the web if you’re looking for kitchen faucets, especially if you’re looking for something hard to find or at a great discount.

House for sale

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

After weeks and months of waiting, it finally happened.

There was someone out there who wanted to buy our house. Actually, there were two. That’s right, after all this time, we had two offers to buy the house at the same time. Weird, huh?

Here’s hoping that everything goes through with the inspection and soon enough, we’ll be on our way to our new digs. Wherever those might be.
