Quote Me Without Guilting Me

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I’ve always prefered an anonymous buying experience to an in person one. It seems I feel guilty if the sales person is helpful and I don’t buy anything. I know that really they’re just giving me the hard sell and I need to make a rational decision but I HATE feeling guilty.

Now, online I don’t have that problem so I like to do my shopping there if I feel there’s a chance I’m going to get a guilty trip (even if it is only self imposed) for whatever product I’m buying which is just about whenever I know the person is working on commission. This happens with car salesmen, insurance agents, the pizza guy (not really commission, but I tip on a per pizza basis).

Online insurance quotes are a great way for me to avoid at least this one attack of nervousness. There’s more than one but at truelowquotes.com you can get 5 quotes in as little as 5 minutes. It usually takes more time if you don’t now your info, so have your current policy ready when you go looking.

Geraldine Ferraro Stikes Again

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Apparently Geraldine Ferraro is still out there.  I don’t remember much about her from when she was running for office with Mondale – just that she was the first woman to do so.

But now there’s her recent comment about Obama only being where he is because he’s black.  The whole quote confused me a bit.  I’m not sure what her point was supposed to be.  There was something about not getting to where he was if he were a woman of any color and something about only being there because he’s a black man.

I think she might have been saying he’s only ahead of Clinton because he’s a he – not that he got there because he’s a BLACK man but because he’s a black MAN.

So she’s not racist, she’s sexist.
