Viagogo tickets

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

With the summer Olympics just a few short months away all those that are on their way to the Far East should hopefully already have their tickets. One thing that we Americans have gotten used to is the availability of extra tickets for sporting events and concerts online. There are a number of different websites where fans of music and sport can go to find great tickets even at the last minute.

For those traveling to the Olympics or fans of sporting events and concerts around the world, Viagogo is another answer to ticket needs. Some of the most popular sporting events in Europe and around the world are events that are very rarely seen in America. While traveling to foreign lands, the tourist could also use this site to find last minute tickets to events that can’t be seen at home. Formula 1 Tickets to many racing events in Europe are available. These races are very different from the oval tracks at NASCAR events and are often even faster.

Other more familiar sports such as golf and tennis have great tournaments and invitationals around the world. Golf Tickets and Tennis Tickets could be a great way to spend a vacation in far away parts of the globe, especially when world class athletes are competing. Not many Americans get to see Tiger Woods or Roger Federer compete in foreign tournaments.

War of the Ring

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

The War of the Ring is a fairly popular strategic board game set in the land of Middle Earth. Two players control the evil forces of Sauron and Saruman while the other two players move the fellowship of the ring and the forces of the elves, dwarves, and men. However, only one of the four players can win.

The look of the game is very good with a large, colorful map, beautiful character tokens, and lots of tokens and cards. The mechanics work well but take a good hour or so to figure out all of the nuances in the rulebook. I definitely recommend playing this game a few times right after you’ve learned it so that no one in your gaming group forgets how to play before next time.

The evil forces vastly outnumber the good, and oftentimes the forces of Rohan will be overrun before they can be reinforced. The good players must concentrate on always moving the fellowship closer to its goal so that the ring might be destroyed. It is rare that the good armies can muster enough force to achieve a military victory.

By pitting each of the four players against each other, the game is designed to force allies to turn on one another towards the end of the game. However, in our games the allies almost always stick with each other so that their “partner” wins. After a couple hours doing battle it’s easier to let your “ally” win then try to help the enemy.

It’s a little expensive and the rules take a few times to really nail down, but the game is unique and fun.

Web hosting advice site

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

In the beginning, the internet was a strange and foreign land. For the most part, internet surfers were broken down into two basic groups, those who could write html code and those who could not. In the beginning, many websites were coded manually with little razzle and not much dazzle.

As more and more users flooded onto the information superhighway, more and more small business owners saw the web as the ideal place to showcase their products to a worldwide audience. The first step in this process was web hosting, finding a place for your small business site to live.

As the internet has matured into the 21st century, things have become a little more sophisticated. The small business web hosting guide lists many different articles that the writer has researched in the past decade of hosting small business web sites. Advice is given on a variety of topics including which operating system should my hosting account use and why shouldn’t I just sign up for a free web hosting account.

All in all, small business web hosting has become a more complicated place, and it’s good to find advice from people that have been there before and have the experience that only comes from learning things the hard way.

Fluxx

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Last year I saw a fun little card game at my local board game store. The thing that caught my eye was that it was billed as the card game where the only rule was that the rules were always changing. That intriguing little premise sold me on the game.

The game starts with each player drawing a card and then playing a card. As cards get played they can change these first basic rules, change the object of the game, or reset the rules back to a more basic form. It only takes a minute to learn as most of the rules change constantly and the new rules are printed on the cards that are played.

My group of card-playing friends loved the game. It was easy enough for girlfriends and wives to join in too. One of the best parts is that new players can be added in the middle of the game. There’s no real disadvantage to starting in the middle. Conversely, the game is not ruined if someone has to leave early. Not that that situation would happen. Games move fast and are lots of fun.

I just got Zombie Fluxx and can’t wait to try it out. As you play either of these games, just remember not to mispronounce the title.

New Search Engine

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Some think that the most commonly used search engines have to much power over the internet and people’s private information. If you’re one such person, you should know there is a new search engine out there to try out. It’s called earthfrisk.org and it’s in pre-release right now but can still be used.

Emotional Weather Roller Coaster

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

I’m tired of the emotional roller coaster the seasons set upon me. When it’s summer, it’s unbelievably hot and I can’t think of anything but winter when I just know every day is going to be the perfect temperature. I keep thinking I’ll start exercising or doing the yard work as soon as it cools off into the 90s. Then winter hits and all I can think about is how summer isn’t that bad because at least I can cool off in that pool I don’t have and every day I’m going to go swimming and loose weight. Then summer comes back and it’s too hot even in the pool to do anything and it’s impossible to get the house cool enough so I just sit around and dream about winter. I want to live somewhere where beautiful days are abundant and snow is nonexistent unless I plan to go skiing. Is that so much to ask?

Skin Health and Holiday Fruit Salad

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

So for holiday’s I always seem to be assigned a fruit dish to bring to whatever gathering is going on. I shouldn’t complain. It’s easy and since I don’t cook without setting fires everywhere it’s best I deal with a cold dish. But I feel like I achieved all I can in this area – reached my fruit dish peak if you will. This Christmas, I put together 3 dishes (ok, they were just fruit salads at best) for one gathering and they were BEAUTIFUL! I like to include strange fruits when I can so this time I picked up a blood orange to act as a garnish sort of thing but in the past I’ve included kiwi and I once tried to include pomegranate but didn’t have time to work that one out. Anyway, the up shot is that I had alot of left-overs. Apparently these people don’t know the benefits of fruit (or maybe that’s what they eat all the time and splurged with the meat this time – actually, knowing the people I was with this is likely true). I just read today about a fruit I had never heard of before called gac. It’s grown in Asia and I don’t think we’ve ever had it in the local stores but apparently it’s full of those really good antioxidants. In fact I think the only way to benefit from this fruit here in the states is to get it as a supplement. There’s something called R.G. Skin Revitalizer that helps rejuvenate skin and it’s a vitamin supplement made from the red gac (hence the R.G.). If you want to try it, let me know how it tastes and maybe I’ll sprinkle some over my next fruit salad.
