Rambo 4

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Can you believe it? Another Rambo.

Over 20 years after Rambo 3 was the most expensive movie ever made (at the time), he’s back. And ready to make some dude’s head explode. It seems that few people remember how well this series started, or that it started without the name Rambo in the title. First Blood featured the emotional pain of a vet pushed to the fringes of society and then responding with violence solely because he was trained to do so. A war veteran that is forced to use his skills to destroy the civilization that he went to war to protect. That great movie devolved into Stallone shooting down a helicopter with a bow and arrow.

Let’s hope Part 4 features a return to the original.

Duck Tales in Finnish

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I have to add in one of the funniest videos on the web. DuckTales in Finnish.

Youtube has the text of the misheard lyrics if you open this video at their site, and ytmnd has the original with the alternate video images.

The youtube video sends me into a nostalgic daze when I see the DuckTales intro. I must have watched every episode of that show a dozen times in my youth.

Anyway.

It will not avail you, Taco Nazi!

After school cartoons

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

I bemoan the loss of the after school cartoon.

Gone are the days (at least in this town) where the average kid can come home from a hard day of reading, riting, and rithmatic and sit down to a cartoon (unless you have cable)

The cartoons themselves have fallen from the highs of Batman, He-man, and Disney’s best (Ducktales, Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, and Tailspin) to the depths of anime and Spongebob. And why did Looney Toons disappear.

Don’t even get me started on Saturday mornings.
